Meet The Planner
Hey there! Let’s get to know me a little bit. My name is Chantelle and I am 29. I'm a wedding planner who is based in the South-West Victoria region of Australia. It's a lovely place to live, work and of course, get married.
I have always loved weddings – from the dresses and place settings to the ceremony and reception, and of course, the one thing we’re all there to celebrate – the love between two people. I do like to watch tv shows like ‘Whose Wedding Is It Anyway’ and ‘Say Yes To The Dress’ (the original and the Atlanta one also). I’ve always found the whole planning process fascinating and had vague aspirations of being a wedding planner in high school (as well as wanting to be a lawyer and a forensic scientist.) however I didn’t think I’d be able to do it, as I typically was not a very well person.
Oh yeah, a bit of backstory is relevant here. I was born with Cystic Fibrosis which is a big pain in the backside. It’s a genetic disorder that affects the respiratory system, the digestive system and some other places as well. I remained reasonably healthy until I was about 25, when I started to get a lot sicker, a lot more frequently. Late last year, with only 21% lung function, it was decided that I needed to go on the lung transplant list. I was very lucky and was not on the list very long and got my new lungs on November 30th 2016, at the age of 27. My operation and recovery were straightforward and I have only had very minor complications. Once I was out of rehab and back home I decided now was as good a time as ever to do what I really want to do.
My goal as a wedding planner is to help brides plan their dream weddings. I know every planner says that, but really, that’s what our goal should be. In particular, I want to focus on brides who don’t have massive budgets and show them that they can have a wedding that stands up to a very expensive wedding for a lot less cost. With the invent of Pinterest, Etsy and Ebay there’s so much out there now for brides to use to have stunning weddings on a low-range budget. I also hire out items like mason jars, fish bowls, lights, etc to brides so they don’t have to pay out so much money for those items.
Here’s to love, weddings and marriage.
